Angelo Badalamenti's Twin Peaks music makes a small melodic gesture feel capable of changing the whole room. Slow keyboard chords, soft rhythmic figures and dark jazz colors create an atmosphere that can be tender and deeply uneasy at once. Julee Cruise's floating vocals extend that dreamlike quality, connecting the soundtrack's romantic surface with the mystery underneath.
