The Ozzman Cometh connects Ozzy Osbourne's early work with the melodic identity of his solo recordings. Different guitarists and production settings give the songs contrasting surfaces, while his distinctive voice remains the constant. The collection moves between heavy, ominous passages and more open hooks, showing how much of the music's character comes from his phrasing as well as its riffs.
